Well, I was official spoiled yesterday that is for sure! Today was definitely a day for the books (or blogs as the case may be.) I realize that with working with kids, you need to be prepared for pretty much anything to happen, and trust me, here at Krafts & Kids we have seen pretty much everything, but today is pretty high up there.
Lets start with my "excitable" assistant Steven. (yes a male assistant in a daycare, quite unheard of) Anyhow, he tends to laugh at everything, serious or funny. Today on the menu for lunch was "chicken pita raps" YUM! and I had forgotten to take the chicken out of the freezer. I took the chicken out and asked Steven to turn the hot tap water on it, to help defrost it before I threw it on the George Foreman. Simple enough task you would think. in the meantime I ran to the washroom. I returned to the kitchen to find.... my kitchen being flooded!! Steven had sure enough turned the hot water on the chicken, but had neglected to move things out of the way to ensure the water would be able to drain!! (we work with kids, there are always dirty dishes waiting to be put in the dishwasher) So my entire counter flooded, the water was running down the front of my cupboards and soaking the floor. My new puppy Phoebe, was having a grand ole time in the water. so on top of my already busy day, I had to quickly clean my kitchen of WATER! here are some pictures of the sink over flowing, and Steven congratulating himself on a job well done!
So that took about 45 minutes of good quality time to completely clean up, including discovering that the water and also gathered under the sink, ruining two boxes of swiffer carpet flick refills and swiffer duster refills! UGH!!
So I continue to make lunch and things go rather well. As I am making lunch the kids are their usual difficult self about tidying up (who can blame them really). They finally all sit down to lunch and I find some Chocolate milk in the fridge that I wanted to use up. So I put the bag in the container and pour away. Steven and I couldn't figure out why the two babies wouldn't drink it! Until I went to have a glass! It was spoiled!! talk about gross! Thank goodness none of the kids drank it! I had a huge swallow though!
Blah, ok so to recap, Steven tries to drown us, and I try to poison us, not bad for the first 4 hours of the day huh? So then Steven goes out to get the mail for me, and while looking in the mail box, falls OFF the front step! At this point I am laughing sooo hysterically, I cant breathe and I am crying. My hubby comes downstairs to find out what is going on. I cant form words!
So we figure bad things come in threes, we are safe now. But nope, the kids just had to add insult to injury. we had a fun snack this afternoon DUNKAROOS! and although "A" swears he was starving, he was mad that his icing didn't have sprinkles in it, so he decided to spread it up and down his arms!!
Oh what a day! at least he looks like he feels bad! So at the end of this fun filled day, at least "E" is always good for a nice smile!
She really enjoyed her snack too!
Thank goodness kids are cute!
So that was my day, and how was yours?!?!! Tomorrow we go strawberry picking, should be interesting!!
